Susanne Gervay is an award winning young adult and children's author published in Australia and overseas, with her works translated into other languages including Bahasa and Korean. Her books are assessable while tackling tough issues from bullying, blending families, burns, male youth culture to multi-culturalism. Her much loved I Am Jack is becoming a classic book on school bullying and starts touring as a play in 2008 with Monkey Baa Theatre. Her YA novel, Butterflies, is recognised as a defining book on youth disability, while The Cave confronts youth male culture today.
Susanne's new book, set against the background of youth music is a unique combination of text and songs, crossing into the mediums of film and music. That's Why I Wrote This Song was a collaboration with her teenage daughter Tory, who wrote the rock songs for the book. The music and video clip will be available as a download from Susannes website.
Susannes books are endorsed by organizations including the Childrens Hospital Westmead Sydney, The NSW Cancer Council, Life Education Australia, The National Coalition against Bullying and The Alannah & Madeline Foundation.
Susanne is also a specialist in child growth and development. She is equally at home speaking to children and young adults, as she is when addressing conferences and professional development meetings. Her website includes educators notes on a range of areas.
