Richard Newsome
Richard Newsome has worked as a journalist for daily newspapers, radio and TV, as a consultant with one of the world's foremost strategy consultancies, and as the communications director of a multinational media company. He left his job in Sydney to take the plunge at writing a book. He continues to undertake corporate work but is increasingly spending more time writing. He is married with three children and lives in Brisbane.
Richard's debut novel, The Billionaire's Curse, won the inaugural Text Prize for Children's and Young Adult writing. It is the first volume of a trilogy, and has been sold to publishers in the United States, Canada, Germany, Poland and Italy.
Richard's experience in the daily grind of journalism, in the corporate world, as a stay at home Dad and as a fledgling author gives him a breadth of experience to speak about the values of setting goals and perseverance, of planning and execution and of writing to a specific audience. His kids reckon he also makes pretty good school lunches.
