2005 has been a big year for North Coast writer Sarah Armstrong. Her first novel Salt Rain, set during the rainy season in the North Coast Hinterland, was shortlisted for both the prestigious 2005 Miles Franklin Literary Award and the 2005 Dobbie Award.
Sarah left a successful high-powered career as an ABC journalist in Sydney for a more peaceful existence in a valley outside Mullumbimby.
She attributes part of her growth and development as a writer to good friend and children's author Matt Ottley. Despite the pressure many published writers complain comes with a second novel, Sarah feels free from this angst and is well on the way to completing her next book.
Sarah is an accomplished and thought-provoking speaker. She also runs creative writing workshops.
