Amy Hunter
Amy is a young non-fiction writer from Geelong, with a background in science and technology. She is also a qualified Patent Attorney.
Passionate about inventions, her first book Great Aussie Inventions is the story of some of the world's best inventions, all engineered by Australians.
When speaking with primary students, Amy brings along inventions to show the students. She talks about the process of inventing: how do people come up with ideas for a new product? She presents a problem to the class and gets everyone involved by asking them how they might solve it. This is followed by “invention brainstorming” with the class.
With secondary students, Amy speaks about how, as a Patent Attorney, she combined her technical and legal knowledge to work with some of Australia's most inventive people.
Amy can also talk to senior students and adults about choosing a career in the mainly male-dominated areas of Science and Technology and her experiences working in these areas.
Excite your students' imagination and creativity by organising a visit . . . or have Amy speak about succeeding in “a man's world”. She does it all with style and humour.
