Anna Ciddor
Anna Ciddor is the author and illustrator of the Viking Magic trilogy: Runestone, Wolfspell and Stormriders. These best-selling and highly-acclaimed novels are available around the world, and translated into several languages. Anna's latest book, Night of the Fifth Moon, is an intriguing and unusual tale about druids in ancient Ireland.
Anna is currently working on a book based on a true story, set in France during the First World War.
Anna Ciddor is also the author of nearly fifty non-fiction books including the Australia in the Twentieth Century series, and Unplugged, the bare facts on toilets through the ages.
Anna tells intriguing anecdotes about her research struggles and adventures. (Her trip to Ireland to gather material for Night of the Fifth Moon included a night time visit inside an ancient burial mound!) Using a wealth of 'show and tell', she shares an amazing depth and breadth of writing and illustrating experiences – from rough draft to finished book – with her audiences.
Awards:
Both Runestone and Night of the Fifth Moon have been selected as Notable Books by the Children's Book Council of Australia. The Viking Magic books have all been shortlisted on children's choice awards, and in 2005 Anna was awarded a grant from the Literature Board of the Australia Council.
I've never seen the students so excited about anything, even the boys! They're still talking about it.
