Chris Milne
Author and Neighbours Writer
Following the publication of his new book, 'The Western Sydney Kid' (an Australian Football story for boys and girls aged 6 - 13). Chris is available to visit schools in Melbourne and Sydney during 2009.
Chris speaks free of charge (Show & Tell Booking Fee additional) and all he asks in return is that teachers, students and parents be made aware in advance (usually through the school newsletter) that he will have books for sale on the day at:
- $10.00 for 'Scary Stories for Brave Boys and Girls'
- $15.00 for 'The Western Sydney Kid'
- $20.00 for the "Complete Book of Naughty Stories" (all 13 original volumes combined).
He usually speaks for forty minutes to Year 2 to Year 6. (Preps and Year 1 he finds are just a little bit too young).
If space permits, Chris prefers one large session of up to two hundred students, or two sessions for more than two hundred. He explains the origin of "Naughty Stories" (which began as bed-time stories for his sons), points out that there are several rules of writing to which he is committed and then read a number of stories to provide examples.
"Naughty Stories" has now sold over 500,000 copies across the world. They have consistently rated amongst the top ten sellers in Australia and schools seem to have endorsed them as the "perfect books for reluctant readers".
The original black "Naughty Stories" won the 1998 YOUNG AUSTRALIANS BEST BOOK AWARD and in 1995 Chris was invited to represent Australia at The Edinburgh International Children's Festival.
Chris has also written several episodes of "Neighbours" so, if time permits, he will usually add a few words about acting and writing for TV.
Lots of questions are most welcome.
