Glenda Millard
Glenda has written picture books, short stories and novels for children and young adults. The Naming of Tishkin Silk was an Honour Book in the 2004 CBCA Book of the Year Awards and shortlisted for the NSW Premier's Literary Awards. Layla Queen of Hearts was a winner in the 2007 Qld Premier's Literary Awards and was shortlisted in the 2007 CBCA Awards. Kaito's Cloth was also shortlisted in the 2007 Qld Premier's Literary Awards.
Most recently Glenda's book Perry Angel's Suitcase has been nominated in the Patricia Wrightson section of the NSW Premier's Literary Awards and also for The Children's Book Council of Australia Younger Reader's Award. Her picture book, Applesauce and The Christmas Miracle has also been shortlisted for the CBCA Awards in the Early Childhood Category.
There's only one thing Glenda loves to do more than writing and that's talking about writing... and reading and the experience of having her writing published. Glenda is an accomplished and adaptable speaker.
In addition to conducting writing workshops for children, Glenda delivered the after dinner address at the 2007 Lady Cutler Award in Sydney and has presented motivational presentations on behalf or a national employment agency.
Currently Glenda is an ambassador for the Victorian Premier's Reading Challenge.
