Greg Pyers
Greg Pyers has written more than 130 books for children and teenagers. He worked for many years in zoos, so it's little wonder that many of his books are about animals.
His first novel, Doublecross (ABC Books, 2005) is a genetic thriller. He is the author of the Jack Brown Series (ABC Books), the first of which is currently being translated into Norwegian and Swedish. In these adventures Greg delves into the animal world through his title character, a boy who can see inside their minds
In 1995, Greg was awarded a fellowship to work at Jersey Zoo, founded by author and conservationist, Gerald Durrell. Greg won a Whitley Award from the Royal New South Wales Zoological Society in 2004 and 2005 for Best Children’s Series, and the Wilderness Society Environment Award in 2002 and 2005 for his outstanding contribution to children's environmental literature. He was short-listed for the 2005 Children's Book Council Eve Pownall Award and has written many CBCA notable books.
Greg is an experienced and passionate writer and speaker on wildlife. He has hosted live television broadcasts, presented in videos and delivered many programs — from birdwatching to native gardening — to adults and children alike.
