Judith Rossell
Judith Rossell is rapidly becoming one of Australia's most sought after illustrators for children and has recently released her first children's novel, Jack Jones and the Pirate Curse (Little Hare 2006). This was followed by Sam and the Killer Robots (Little Hare 2007).
Judith has worked as a government scientist, for a cotton-spinning company, as a seatbelt inspector and as a checkout operator before becoming a freelance illustrator.
Highlights of her illustration career so far have been:
- working on several Jackie French titles, including How to Guzzle your Garden and The Fascinating History of your Lunch
- illustrating Sing! 2001, published by the ABC
- writing and illustrating The Lost Treasure of the Green Iguana – a jungle maze adventure, translated into five languages
- writing and illustrating The Haunted Castle of Count Viper – a spooky maze adventure
- writing and illustrating I Spy with Inspector Stilton – a picture puzzle book and its sequel Inspector Stilton and the Missing Jewels
During her presentation, Judith can show finished artwork and the working drawings for some of her books. She can demonstrate to her audience how to create mazes and puzzles and encourage them to draw by participating in some fun and effective drawing activities.
With the release of her novels about Jack Jones and Sam, she is also happy to speak about the differences in creating picture and puzzle books and writing prose.
