She is also an award-winning songwriter who released her first album The Simplest of Things in 2007.
Kate grew up in Sydney, has taught English at the Sorbonne in Paris, French at Blue Mountains Grammar School in NSW, and creative writing at Span community college in Melbourne. She is the author of the Omnibus Books Teachers' Notes for Emily Rodda's The Key to Rondo and The Wizard of Rondo. She has also worked as a children's party entertainer, has directed a high school musical and co-written and co-directed a junior school musical.
Kate offers a positive and practical Creative Writing workshop for students from Years 3 up, based around an Emily Rodda book of your choice e.g. Rowan of Rin, Deltora Quest, The Key to Rondo. Alternatively, Kate can perform her own kid-friendly songs, explain how they were written and lead students in their own writing. Or, invite her to speak to your senior students about achieving their dreams and expanding their creativity.
