Sue Lawson

Sue Lawson grew up on a farm in Western Victoria listening to her father's and grandfather's stories. She worked as a teacher and a radio announcer/producer before serious illness motivated her to devote more time to her true passion - writing. Sue now mixes writing, teaching and running author talks and workshops for children, adults and teachers. She also presents motivational sessions. Sue lives in Western Victoria with her husband and teenage daughter and is passionate about writing, reading and encouraging young people to develop a love for both.Sue Lawson

Finding Darcy:

‘This is a special book. The shadows the past casts on one family- and on our society - are brilliantly explored in the voice of a young girl. Sue manages to weave the profound with the everyday language of a teenager.'
Renowned children's author Jackie French.

Talks/ Workshops:

Sue's talks and workshops are fast-paced, interactive and, after extensive road-testing in the classroom, proven winners. Her background in teaching and radio make for entertaining and educational sessions, while her skills and warm personality combine to create a safe, fun and inspirational atmosphere for participants. During her author talks Sue shares her experiences as a writer, telling the story behind her books and encouraging students to follow their dreams. In workshops, Sue leads students through stimulating exercises to help them develop their skills, providing positive and directive feedback.

Topics include generating ideas, planning, beginnings, characters, dialogue, editing and more.
