Jeannette Rowe
Award winning Melbourne author and illustrator,Jeannette Rowe has been creating children's books for more than fifteen years. Working fulltime from her studio at home, Jeannette loves making books for preschoolers and primary school age children.
Her most well known book "Scallywag" was shorlisted for the CBC awards in 1991 launching her career. Over the years Jeannette has enjoyed working with many other wonderful authors, such as Paul Jennings, Donna Rawlins and Duncan Ball.
After her daughter Lucy was born in 1995,Jeannette's work took a major turn from her complicated watercolour and pencil drawings. Wanting to create books for her new baby, Jeannette developed a vibrant new drawing style, that has taken her books to over 10 countries about the world.
These books are of course the "Whose" and "YoYo" series books she has created for the ABC. They have been so successful the ABC has created an animated clip for little "YoYo" that now regularly appears on ABC television. Watch out for "YoYo", there's more to come.
Having been a teacher in a past life, Jeannette enjoys talking to children (and teachers) of all ages. She is comfortable with preps through to tertiary students and endeavours to make her sessions fun, practical and hands on. She loves sharing her cartoon workshop with children in grade 3 and upward, and plays drawing games and Show and Tell with the younger children.
