Richard Morden
Like many other illustrators Richard Morden spent his childhood drawing at every opportunity, and has always been intrigued with other artist's styles and techniques. After finishing high school Richard studied applied art at NMIT and went on to work as a graphic artist.
Richard is now a freelance illustrator and a puzzle book writer. He has illustrated puzzle books, book covers, chapter books, readers and educational texts. He has also designed books, promotional merchandise and even collectable toys for a fast food franchise.
A lot of Richard's work is coloured or rendered on a Mac, but he also likes to use ink, charcoal, pencils and even some photography. He constantly experiments with digital techniques and drawing styles to better cater for specific purposes and audiences.
Richard particularly loves illustrating fun, cartoonish pictures and filling them with crazy details and humorous side stories.
With a background in graphic arts and illustration, Richard can talk to groups about a range topics, including: drawing expressive cartoons, the process of designing and illustrating a book, developing puzzles and mazes, creating graphics and illustrations that support meaning and target a specific audience, and experimenting in digital rendering techniques on a Mac.
Richard is happy to work with you to make his visit meaningful in terms of your curriculum and a fun experience for all.
