The Magic of Laughter is a programme designed to show the benefits of laughter. Using comedy, magic, and audience participation Don Jones demonstrates how laughter can reduce stress, maintain good health and a sense of well-being, and most importantly, balance the seriousness of life and living by giving you a new perspective.
Along the way, this FUN, funny hour long presentation will show how you can become more effective by connecting with others through humour and laughter, using humour to turn negative into positive and implementing specific techniques to incorporate more FUN and humour in your social and family relationships.
Why use humour in daily life?
The answer is simple. You get immediate results. It takes no special talent or ability, no physical prowess or skill, you aren't required to have a master's degree or a license, it makes you feel good, it's fun, fat-free and you don't need batteries.
A good laugh may be good for the heart.
A team of medical researchers found that people with heart disease were 40 percent less likely to laugh in humorous situations than those with healthy hearts.
The healthful benefits of laughter are cause for great celebration among psychologists. They now recognize the therapeutic value of humour in day to day activities and have begun to prescribe it for their patients.
Don Jones has been a comedy performer for more years than he would like to own up to. Along the way he has experienced all kinds of audiences. The early years performing for holidaymakers at holiday camps, getting his comedy act polished at working men's clubs in England. Then in the early 70's performing in theatre restaurants. Hancock's Old Time Music Hall, Mount Eliza Music Hall, the Naughty Nineties and currently The Tivoli Theatre Restaurant Don has been a support act for many international and local celebrities. Al Martino, Chubby Checker, Jose Feliciano, Engelbert Humperdink, Frankie J Holden, Kamahl and Denise Drysdale.
Don is also a comedian for kids.
Performing for children is an area Don has excelled in. His "Learning Through Laughter" school show has been a big feature for primary schools. Children love puppets and funny stories. This is a programme that brings them both together. In laughter filled show Don gets the children involved with his stories and puppet friends.
Puppets like Denzil the Dragon, Chunky the Monkey Eric the Alley Cat. Don also uses masks in some of the stories to involve the children. Bringing new life to fairy stories like The Three Little Pigs, Jack & the Beanstalk. Plus the age old puppet show "Punch & Judy".
