Celeste Walters (who has also written under the name of Sowden) has been a primary and secondary school tea cher, a children's theatre actor/manager and for thirteen years, a lecturer in Drama and Language and Literature at Deakin University. She has been writer-in-residence at Edith Cowan University and a part-time lecturer in Drama at Latrobe University.
Celeste has a diverse range of skills. She has published play scripts and novels for younger readers, texts on developmental drama and the writing of eulogies and three books of whimsical verse for all ages.
She is currently writing for the Young Adult Reader with her first book, The Killing of Mud-eye (University of Queensland Press 1997) being shortlisted for the Victorian Premier's Literary Awards.
Celeste has a background in speech and drama and conducts lectures, seminars and workshops for students and adults in problem solving and decision making, voice production, using role-play as a springboard to literacy, in creative writing and the writing genres of the novel, short story and poetry.
