Dianne Wolfer
Dianne is the author of eleven books for children and teenagers. Her YA novels have been shortlisted for various awards and are read in schools within Australia and overseas.
In 2002 Dianne walked the Kokoda Track as part of her research for a YA novel, Shadows Walking (in production). Her first picture book, Photographs in the Mud with award-winning illustrator, Brian Harrison-Lever has been workshopped internationally.
Photographs in the Mud tells the story of two soldiers who meet in battle in war torn Papua New Guinea. The book explores WW2 from both an Australian and Japanese perspective. Her notes and overheads from her 2002 research trip bring this story to life during class sessions.
Dianne's book, Horse-Mad was shortlisted for the 2006 WAYRBA and The Kid whose Mum kept Possums in her Bra will be released in August 2006 – just in time for Book Week! Both books are chapter books for younger readers. They will be followed by her current writing project – a fantasy novel set in both WA and PNG.
Dianne has a teaching background and enjoys presenting workshops to a cross-section of ages – from kindergarten to seniors. Teaching notes are available on her website.
